When we wake up in the morning we still can't believe we live here! But boy was it a long road. When we were originally designing our house, we decided to take on a lot projects ourselves to save money. Who knew a list of 5 items would quickly turn into a laundry list of nearly two dozen work-intensive DIY projects! The first year flew by with us barely making a dent. However, once we found out we were expecting our little girl we kicked things into high gear and tackled a year's worth of projects in mere months!

Our Home
Our Nursery
We have always been obsessed with barn doors! When we built our first home (the one highlighted by HGTV ) we went out of our way to have custom barn doors built for the master bedroom. So when we moved into our home we knew we wanted to include custom barn doors. This time around we decided to build them ourselves!
No seriously! We always regretted not incorporating brick into our home design before moving in. So we decided to add a splash of industrial chic to our home office. However, once we started researching how much real brick would cost we quickly begin seeking out DIY alternatives. Enter cardboard brick panels from Lowe's! Cut, nail, plaster, acrylic...voila!
So for some crazy reason the builder did not include a fireplace in the living room in the original plans. Being the savvy home designers we are, we just added one ourselves. Now I must admit, we did not built this ourselves, we totally hired pros. The fireplace is actually electric so no chimney necessary! There is even a hidden door on the side for easy access.
It took nearly a year before we finished our master bedroom design. To be honest, we slept in the guest room for several months before even attempting to tackle our bedroom. The one thing we both agreed on was installing an accent shiplap wall behind the bed. Although, the project should have been super simple we ran into a bunch of hurdles getting the seamless lines we enjoy today!
We're a fun loving couple with big dreams and an insatiable appetite for new experiences. If we had it our way we would strap our little girl to our backs and travel the world until money ran out. But for now, we're happy just turning our little home into the magical getaway of our dreams - no passport required.
